With Green Juice, It’s Chop, Whirr, Drink, Done

In my last post, I was talking about my experience with a Green Juice fast.  Let me tell you more...

One of the reasons I especially like Green Juice when I’m fasting is that it’s a ‘quick fix.’  All I have to do is grab a few ingredients, chop them up, and then toss them into the juicer for a few minutes of whirring and whizzing.  So I never have to worry that I don’t have time to give my body the nutrition it needs.

Unlike some juices for fasting, you can prepare a large batch of Green Juice in the morning and pretty much just grab-and-go all day long.  You juice an entire head of celery, 1 bunch of kale, 2 cucumbers, 1/2 head parsley, and 1 lemon. Because I can prepare small batches in a jiffy or a large batch in the morning or at night, I don’t have to linger in the kitchen, surrounded by the temptations that are in my pantry and refrigerator. 

It yields 6 cups of nutrient-dense deliciousness.  I put it in 3 pint-sized mason jars. It will keep in the refrigerator for 36 hours, so I can drink it throughout the day and the next morning...or share it with my boyfriend, Mark.

After three days, I started to reintroduce solid foods again.  For a couple of days following the liquid phase of my fast, I made the same amount of juice and drank it for breakfast and lunch.  Then at dinner time, I indulged in a light salad of lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado.

After juice fasting, this simplest of salads tastes divine.  You really appreciate all the flavors of textures of the naturally delicious ingredients. 

After 5 days, I jumped on the scale and was pleased to find out that I’d lost 5 pounds!  I had also lost that bloated post-holiday feeling.  My skin looked clearer, too.  I was sleeping much more soundly, was more flexible, was breathing more deeply, and didn’t have that groggy, achy feeling in the morning.  I felt a renewed sense of mental clarity and calm. 

Thanks to Green Juice, I was in the pink again!
