Apple Banana Green Smoothie

Since apples and bananas are readily available, this smoothie is easy and affordable to make year round.

Yield: 4 cups, 2 servings

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 apples, unpeeled and chopped
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 3 cups baby spinach, packed
  • 2 cups stemmed and chopped kale, packed

Equipment

  • cutting board
  • chef’s knife, 8-inch
  • measuring cups
  • blender
  • rubber spatula

Place all the ingredients in a blender and process on high speed until smooth. Stored in a sealed jar in the refrigerator, Apple Banana Smoothie will keep for 24 hours.

Why is it that you allow vegs & fruit to be consumed together in a smoothie, yet we are advised to refrain from eating both fruit * vegs at one meal at the same time.

Marie, I can answer that. At the raw food classes I have attended here in Adelaide South Australia presented by the lovely Remedy Bliss, leafy greens are not considered a vegetable.  They are in a group of their own. Victoria Boutenko reckons they should be in a separate group too.  So we have fruit and leafy greens or vegetables and leafy greens. Avocado tends to be used with either.
